What is a RACI template?

A RACI template is a tool used to clarify roles and responsibilities within a project by designating who is Responsible, Accountable, Consulted, and Informed for each task.

This framework ensures that all team members understand their involvement in specific activities and deliverables, which enhances communication, reduces overlap, and ensures that projects run smoothly.

What’s inside the template?

The RACI template is structured to help teams assign clear roles for each phase of a project:

  1. Activities & deliverables – A breakdown of key tasks, such as identifying customer needs, developing a business case, setting KPIs, and managing timelines.
  2. Roles – Predefined roles with placeholders to customize additional roles.
  3. RACI Designations – For each task, the template allows you to assign who is Responsible (R), Accountable (A), Consulted (C), and Informed (I), ensuring every role is clear for all phases.

This template can be customized to fit any project and team structure, ensuring seamless collaboration and accountability.

How to use the template

  1. Define project phases – Use the template to outline key phases of your project, such as planning, execution, and implementation.
  2. Assign roles – Identify the roles involved in the project and customize additional roles as needed.
  3. Designate RACI responsibilities – For each activity, assign team members as Responsible, Accountable, Consulted, or Informed to ensure every task is covered.
  4. Track progress – Use the template throughout the project to monitor task ownership and ensure responsibilities are fulfilled at every stage.
